R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Concepcion "Chon" Granado on October 1-2 24, 1997, at the age of 101, brought a great loss to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this esteemed Fort Davis resident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Granado was born on October 25, 1-5 1895, in Presidio County, and for much of his life he devoted his 1-6 time and energy to farming and ranching; and 1-7 WHEREAS, He took as his wife the former Julia Lozano, and 1-8 they shared 76 years of mutual affection and devotion until her 1-9 passing in May 1997; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In recognition of his extraordinary longevity, his 1-11 100th birthday, October 25, 1995, was declared "Chon Granado Day" 1-12 in Jeff Davis County, and he also received greetings from President 1-13 Bill Clinton on that momentous occasion; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Concepcion Granado was a man of rare wisdom and 1-15 generosity; although his unique presence is gone from us now, his 1-16 remarkable spirit lives on in the hearts of the many people whose 1-17 lives he touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be 1-18 it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Concepcion Granado 1-21 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 1-22 children, Francisco, Concepcion Jr., Richard, Ben, Margaret, Luisa, 1-23 Josephine, Cindy, and Maria; to his grandchildren, 1-24 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and to the many 2-1 other friends and relatives of this beloved gentleman; and, be it 2-2 further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-5 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-6 Concepcion "Chon" Granado.
