R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Gerald Smith of Houston has been named an
 1-2     Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, and this
 1-3     notable honor is truly worthy of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, An eighth-grade student at Fleming Middle School,
 1-5     Mr. Smith maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average and is a
 1-6     member of the National Honor Society as well as a versatile
 1-7     athlete; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, This exemplary young man was deservedly named
 1-9     "Mr. Fleming" in recognition of his many accomplishments, which
1-10     include membership in the Young Executive Club; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Gerald Smith is a source of tremendous pride to his
1-12     family and to his fellow students, and it is most appropriate that
1-13     he be honored in light of his most recent accolade; now, therefore,
1-14     be it
1-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-16     Legislature hereby congratulate Gerald Smith on being named the
1-17     recipient of an Outstanding Texan Award by the Texas Legislative
1-18     Black Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
1-19     success and happiness; and, be it further
1-20           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
1-21     prepared for Mr. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas
1-22     House of Representatives.
