R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Gertrude K. Swyhart on February 27,
1-2 1999, at the age of 91, has brought a great loss to the family and
1-3 friends of this beloved woman; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Born on January 26, 1908, in St. Joseph, Missouri,
1-5 she was a lifelong resident of that city and a valued employee of
1-6 the Quaker Oats Company, which she served with distinction as a
1-7 line supervisor for 30 years; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Mrs. Swyhart enjoyed a close and happy relationship
1-9 with her husband, George, until his passing; the couple were
1-10 blessed with two sons and through the years, Mrs. Swyhart welcomed
1-11 nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren into her
1-12 close-knit family; and
1-13 WHEREAS, During her lifetime, this lovely lady contributed to
1-14 the betterment of her community by donating her time and talents to
1-15 such worthy concerns as the Brookdale Presbyterian Church and the
1-16 PTA, and she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star;
1-17 and
1-18 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of
1-19 Mrs. Swyhart will long miss her presence, and she will surely be
1-20 remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to
1-21 come; now, therefore, be it
1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Gertrude K. Swyhart and
1-24 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons,
2-1 Leroy Swyhart and Leroyce Walter Swyhart; to her grandchildren and
2-2 great-grandchildren; and to the many other friends and relatives of
2-3 this esteemed woman; and, be it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
2-6 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-7 Gertrude K. Swyhart.
