R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The members of the Texas House of Representatives
1-2 are proud to honor Deandra L. McCullough of Houston for her many
1-3 achievements, including her recent receipt of an Outstanding Texan
1-4 Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
1-5 WHEREAS, A senior at Phillis Wheatley High School,
1-6 Ms. McCullough is a leader in her class and has maintained an A
1-7 average during high school; her academic excellence was recently
1-8 rewarded when she was designated valedictorian of the 1999
1-9 graduating class; and
1-10 WHEREAS, The beloved daughter of Wanda McCullough, this
1-11 committed young woman is president of the Business Professionals of
1-12 America, vice president of the senior class, and treasurer of the
1-13 National Honor Society; she is an enthusiastic student of English
1-14 and history and participates in basketball, volleyball, golf, and
1-15 softball; and
1-16 WHEREAS, A work-study student at Shell Chemical Company as
1-17 well, Ms. McCullough nevertheless finds time in her busy schedule
1-18 to be an affiliate of the Upward Bound Program at Texas Southern
1-19 University and University Outreach; after graduation she plans to
1-20 attend the University of Houston to study entrepreneurship or
1-21 prelaw to make her dreams of owning a law firm or a department
1-22 store a reality; and
1-23 WHEREAS, This fine young woman has consistently demonstrated
1-24 her dedication to academics, her family, and her community; her
2-1 impressive leadership as a young Texan instills pride in all who
2-2 know and love her, and it is indeed a privilege to honor her at
2-3 this time; now, therefore, be it
2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-5 Legislature hereby commend Deandra L. McCullough for her remarkable
2-6 achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
2-7 success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and, be it
2-8 further
2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10 prepared for Deandra L. McCullough as an expression of high regard
2-11 by the Texas House of Representatives.
