                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Dr. Janice C. May is a highly respected and admired
 1-2     professor of government at The University of Texas at Austin; and
 1-3           WHEREAS, Together, with her American State Legislatures
 1-4     class, numbering 93 students, she plans to conduct simulated
 1-5     legislative floor sessions to broaden her students' understanding
 1-6     of how ideas can be transformed into laws and to inspire them to
 1-7     become a integral part of the legislative process; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives heartily endorses
 1-9     the goal of encouraging Texans to learn about the legislative
1-10     process; now, therefore, be it
1-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-12     Legislature, in accordance with the house rules and with the
1-13     policies and procedures of the House Administration Committee,
1-14     hereby grant permission to Professor Janice C.  May and the
1-15     students in her American State Legislatures class to use the house
1-16     floor on April 18, 1999, provided that the House of Representatives
1-17     is not in session on that date.
