R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, For many years, Oak Cliff resident and Texas native
 1-2     Henry M. Pardee has been an active force in behalf of the Lone Star
 1-3     State's senior citizens, and his spirit of volunteerism and
 1-4     willingness to help others indeed merit special legislative
 1-5     recognition; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Born in Center, Mr. Pardee is a retired Department
 1-7     of Defense employee who is a founding member and first president of
 1-8     the Glen Oaks Homeowners Association; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mr. Pardee's work in neighborhood preservation
1-10     brought him in contact with the area's elderly residents; this
1-11     segment of our state's population is a vulnerable one, and
1-12     Mr. Pardee began volunteering for senior activities while
1-13     continuing his work for the neighborhood; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Boundless energy and remarkable abilities propelled
1-15     him into more and more advocacy work, and his impressive efforts
1-16     have been of great and lasting benefit to many; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Pardee is a former member of A.G.E. (Advocacy
1-18     Group for the Elderly), has served as chairman of the Dallas County
1-19     Silver-Haired Legislators Steering Committee, and has been active
1-20     with the Association of Senior Citizens Groups of Metropolitan
1-21     Dallas; and
1-22           WHEREAS, He has also served as an appointed member and vice
1-23     chairman of the Senior Affairs Commission for the City of Dallas,
1-24     and he led the Older American Celebration Committee as well; in
 2-1     1995, he received Sanus 65's "Senior Salute Award" for his
 2-2     outstanding achievements in support of senior causes; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Currently, Mr. Pardee serves as chair of the newly
 2-4     organized advisory committee of the Dallas County Nutrition
 2-5     Program, which addresses many needs of older adults; he remains
 2-6     committed to protecting the rights and dignity of this state's
 2-7     older citizens, and it is a great privilege to honor him at this
 2-8     time; now, therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-10     Legislature hereby commend Henry M. Pardee for his efforts in
2-11     behalf of the senior residents of Texas and extend to him warmest
2-12     best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for Mr. Pardee as an expression of high regard by the
2-15     Texas House of Representatives.
