                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Richard "Dick" Ivy Love, Sr., on
 1-2     December 25, 1998, at the age of 71 greatly saddened the family and
 1-3     many friends of this esteemed gentleman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Love was born and raised in
 1-5     Sierra Blanca; at the age of 16 this courageous man joined the
 1-6     United States Marine Corps and served in China during World War II
 1-7     and in Korea during the Korean War; he was awarded the Purple Heart
 1-8     for injuries received in action; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Upon returning home from his last tour of duty,
1-10     Mr. Love began ranching in Sierra Blanca, and from 1985 to 1992 he
1-11     served as Hudspeth County sheriff; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Dick Love was known for his compassion and
1-13     willingness to help those in need, and although he will be missed
1-14     by all who knew him, his spirit will surely live on in the hearts
1-15     and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now,
1-16     therefore, be it
1-17           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-18     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard "Dick" Ivy
1-19     Love, Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
1-20     family:  to his wife, Jessie L. Love; to his children, Marlene,
1-21     Kay, Jacque, Rebecca, and Richard, Jr.; to his 11 grandchildren and
1-22     15 great-grandchildren; to his sisters, June and Erlene; to his
1-23     nieces and nephews; and to the many friends of this beloved man;
1-24     and, be it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for the members of his family as an expression of high
 2-3     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
