By Gallego H.R. No. 540 76R297 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Jim L. Talbot on December 1-2 15, 1997, at the age of 60, brought a great loss to the family and 1-3 many friends of this respected gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Sanderson, Mr. Talbot was born to Fred 1-5 H. and Lillian Talbot on May 15, 1937; he was graduated from Sul 1-6 Ross State University with a degree in range management in 1959 and 1-7 later attended Texas Tech University's graduate program; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Talbot was a successful banker whose career 1-9 began at Citizens National Bank in Abilene and took him and his 1-10 family to Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other cities in Texas at one time 1-11 or another; his most recent position was president, chairman, and 1-12 chief executive officer of Sanderson State Bank, which he owned in 1-13 conjunction with a group of partners; and 1-14 WHEREAS, During his many years in the banking industry, 1-15 Mr. Talbot served on the boards of several area banks, including 1-16 Citizens State Bank in Cross Plains and Sanderson State Bank; he 1-17 also made a name for himself as a member of the board of directors 1-18 of the Independent Bankers of Texas, and he was rightfully regarded 1-19 as an astute and dedicated businessman; and 1-20 WHEREAS, A member of the Church of Christ, he was much loved 1-21 by his family and friends, and although he will be missed by all 1-22 who knew him, his spirit will surely live on in the hearts and 1-23 minds of the many people whose lives he touched during his time on 1-24 this earth; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jim L. Talbot and 2-3 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-4 wife, Margaret Talbot; to his son, Miller Talbot, and his wife, 2-5 Deanna; to his daughter, Amy McAlister, and her husband, Kyle; to 2-6 his mother, Lillian Talbot; to his brothers, William D. "Budgy" 2-7 Talbot and Jack Talbot; to his granddaughters, Maggie Sue McAlister 2-8 and Macy McAlister; and to the many other relatives and friends of 2-9 this beloved gentleman; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-13 Jim L. Talbot.
