R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and many friends of H. E. "Dude" Sproul
 1-2     were greatly saddened at his passing on November 19, 1997, at the
 1-3     age of 81, and we join them in mourning their loss; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born April 1, 1916, Mr. Sproul was a lifelong
 1-5     resident of Fort Davis, and after graduating from Fort Davis High
 1-6     School he established himself as one of the area's preeminent
 1-7     ranchers of Charolais and Hereford cattle; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, He married the former Inell Newton on September 7,
 1-9     1939, and they enjoyed a relationship that continued to grow in
1-10     mutual affection, admiration, and respect until his death; and
1-11           WHEREAS, A vital and valued citizen, he was a longtime member
1-12     of the Fort Davis Independent School District Board of Trustees and
1-13     the Jeff Davis County Tax Appraisal Review Board, and he served as
1-14     director of the Toyah-Limpia Soil Conservation Board; and
1-15           WHEREAS, He was active in a number of fraternal
1-16     organizations,  including York Rite of Alpine, Order of Eastern
1-17     Star of Alpine, Scottish Rite of El Paso, and El Maida Shrine
1-18     Temple of El Paso, and for 53 years he was a member of Jeff Davis
1-19     Masonic Lodge; he also served as grand marshal of the Masonic Lodge
1-20     of Texas; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Although he is missed, "Dude" Sproul's spirit lives
1-22     on today in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known
1-23     him, and it is fitting at this time to pay tribute to the life of a
1-24     notable Texan; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby honor the memory of H. E. "Dude" Sproul and
 2-3     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 2-4     Inell Sproul; to his daughter, Alice Eugenia Sproul Lott; to his
 2-5     granddaughter, Kerith Risa Sproul; to his sister, Ruth Johnson; and
 2-6     to Maria Hernandez and his many other friends; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
 2-9     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-10     H. E. "Dude" Sproul.
