No. 556 76R9868 NBH-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Arthur Edward Geil on March 9, 1999, 1-2 at the age of 69, has brought a great loss to the family and many 1-3 friends of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Geil was born on October 19, 1929, in St. Louis, 1-5 Missouri, and graduated from McGill High School in Mobile, Alabama; 1-6 he went on to earn a degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, 1-7 Louisiana, where he was known for his outstanding athletic ability; 1-8 and 1-9 WHEREAS, A proud veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Geil served 1-10 as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force in Korea from 1-11 1951 to 1953 before beginning his distinguished career with IBM; 1-12 and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Geil loved his community and enjoyed helping 1-14 people through his work as president of the St. Vincent de Paul 1-15 Society at St. Theresa's Catholic Church and as president of the 1-16 Northwest Kiwanis Club, where he was chosen as Kiwanian of the Year 1-17 for 1983-1984; and 1-18 WHEREAS, In addition to his professional accomplishments, 1-19 Mr. Geil was a devoted family man who loved his children and 1-20 grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his wife of 47 1-21 years, Anna Tallant Geil; the couple were longtime members of St. 1-22 Monica's Holy Family Guild; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Arthur Edward Geil was a man of honor, integrity, 1-24 and compassion, and though his guidance and devotion will be missed 2-1 by all who knew him, his spirit will surely live on in the hearts 2-2 of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Arthur Edward 2-5 Geil and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to 2-6 his wife, Anna Tallant Geil; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Chip 2-7 Geil and his wife, Mary, Phil Geil and his wife, Mary, Steve Geil 2-8 and his wife, Becky, and Kevin Geil; to his daughter and 2-9 son-in-law, Barbara Fernandez and her husband, Eric; to his 2-10 grandchildren, Gregg, Chelsea, Jaime, Jeff, Joel, and Kayla Geil 2-11 and Emerson Fernandez; to his father, Phil Geil; to his sister, 2-12 Mary Lou Walsh; to his brothers, Roger and Phil Geil; and to the 2-13 many other relatives and friends of this beloved man; and, be it 2-14 further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-17 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-18 Arthur Edward Geil.
