R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, In its first year of operation, San Antonio's
 1-2     Barbara Bush Middle School (BBMS) has fielded a 15-member team of
 1-3     students whose combined efforts recently earned the school the
 1-4     Alamo Regional Science Fair Championship, and this scholastic feat
 1-5     is indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Alamo Regional Science Fair is a prestigious
 1-7     competition encompassing schools from 37 counties in South Texas;
 1-8     the strong showing of the BBMS students is testament to both their
 1-9     enthusiasm for learning and the  school's strong curriculum; and
1-10           WHEREAS, At the regional contest, the BBMS team went above
1-11     and beyond to win the coveted Sister Joseph Marie Armer Award by
1-12     accumulating the most points throughout the event; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Eight of the school's students will advance to
1-14     compete in the state championship in Austin on April 15, 1999; they
1-15     include Peter Shults, Travis Mabrey, Jonathan Lane, Ashley
1-16     Barnhill, Anna Satrom, Cory Stull, Brent Vollmar, and Jullian Hong;
1-17     and   
1-18           WHEREAS, Opened in August 1998, the Barbara Bush Middle
1-19     School campus is part of the North East Independent School District
1-20     and is supported by a dedicated faculty and staff and more than
1-21     1,500 students; and
1-22           WHEREAS, With a curriculum based on the integration of
1-23     technology, use of outside resources, implementation of
1-24     gifted/talented strategies, faster pacing, and challenging content,
 2-1     the school has encouraged a high-achieving student body; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, The outstanding results achieved by the students of
 2-3     Barbara Bush Middle School represent the full promise and potential
 2-4     of Texas education; the diligence and resolve exhibited through
 2-5     their successes speak volumes about the future of these scholars,
 2-6     and it is indeed a pleasure to honor the school's students,
 2-7     faculty, and staff at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-9     Legislature hereby commend all those associated with Barbara Bush
2-10     Middle School and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
2-11     success and happiness; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for prominent display at the school as an expression of
2-14     highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
