R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On April 10, 1999, many proud students and faculty
 1-2     members of the University of Houston-Downtown and Smiley High
 1-3     School will gather with other community leaders to donate their
 1-4     time in recognition of "Community Service Outreach Day"; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Organized by the Student Government Association at
 1-6     the University of Houston-Downtown, this project is designed to
 1-7     locate and help citizens in need of assistance; Dr. Max Castillo,
 1-8     as well as many other faculty and staff members, have generously
 1-9     contributed their time to help this worthy project succeed; and
1-10           WHEREAS, In an attempt to benefit people who live in the
1-11     vicinity of the school, "Community Service Outreach Day" will focus
1-12     on the beautification of three senior citizens' homes located in
1-13     the Denver Harbor, Fifth Ward, and Kashmere areas; and
1-14           WHEREAS, At this time, it is most fitting that we recognize
1-15     the generous contributions being made by the "Community Service
1-16     Outreach Day" participants, who seek to enhance the quality of life
1-17     enjoyed by those who live in their communities; now, therefore, be
1-18     it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-20     Legislature hereby commend the Student Government Association of
1-21     the University of Houston-Downtown and the many volunteers who are
1-22     participating in "Community Service Outreach Day" for their
1-23     exemplary efforts in behalf of their community; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for the Student Government Association of the University
 2-2     of Houston-Downtown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-3     House of Representatives.
