No. 578 76R10637 GMW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Dripping Springs High School Lady Tigers 1-2 achieved outstanding success during the 1998-1999 season as UIL 1-3 District 25-4A basketball champions and regional state playoff 1-4 finalists; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The guidance and skill of head coach Jerry English 1-6 and his assistants, Kelly Jo Sexton and Peggy Till, ably led the 1-7 Lady Tigers to an overall record of 29-8, with a district record of 1-8 8-2, in their first season competing at the Class 4A level; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The Lady Tigers captured their eighth district 1-10 championship since 1989 and this season's playoff run featured 1-11 convincing wins over Austin Travis, Boerne, Del Valle, and Flour 1-12 Bluff high schools; in a thrilling and closely contested regional 1-13 final, Dripping Springs fell to Sam Houston High School 51-50, 1-14 ending their impressive first season in Class 4A but offering an 1-15 abundance of promise for future success; and 1-16 WHEREAS, This triumphant season would not have been possible 1-17 without the contributions of all the talented team members, 1-18 including Chase Jebousek, Tressa Kezar, Jessica Lester, Tiffanie 1-19 Ohnheiser, Brandice Farmer, Brooke Stacey, Lori Beth Smith, Amy 1-20 Hayden, Sarah Lindsey, Kim Vaughan, and Ami Cox; the team also 1-21 received invaluable support from managers Jeannette Drab and Keely 1-22 Tucker and from Dripping Springs principal David Shanley, 1-23 superintendent Dr. Mike Owens, and athletic director Poe Shelton; 1-24 and 2-1 WHEREAS, The dedication and competitive spirit of all the 2-2 players and coaches associated with the Dripping Springs High 2-3 School Lady Tigers basketball team are truly commendable, and it is 2-4 indeed appropriate to pay tribute to them for their remarkable 2-5 1998-1999 hard court performance; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby honor the members of the Dripping Springs High 2-8 School Lady Tigers basketball team for winning the UIL District 2-9 25-4A championship and advancing to the regional final of the state 2-10 playoffs and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued 2-11 success and happiness; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for the Dripping Springs High School Lady Tigers as an 2-14 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
