No. 592 76R8693 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 10 deserving sophomore and junior students from Edcouch-Elsa High 1-3 School for their personal and scholastic accomplishments; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Though these young people come from a school 1-5 district that has been identified as among the poorest in the 1-6 state, these outstanding students have excelled academically, 1-7 proving that what makes a school rich is the community support it 1-8 receives, the commitment of its teachers, and its students' 1-9 determination to succeed; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In the past 10 years, the Edcouch-Elsa School 1-11 District has sent 24 students to Ivy League colleges and 36 1-12 students to other colleges of prestigious rank, and this dedicated 1-13 group of students is certain to blaze an equally impressive trail; 1-14 throughout their years in high school, they have invested their 1-15 time in preparing for the Scholastic Aptitude Test and, with the 1-16 able guidance of college advisor Frank Guajardo, they have realized 1-17 their own potential by traveling to the East Coast to visit Ivy 1-18 League campuses; and 1-19 WHEREAS, These notable young men and women include Erica 1-20 Barrera, Marissa Borrego, Norma Borrego, Olga Cardoso, Edyael 1-21 Casaperalta, Jose Cruz, Cecilia Garza, Kristy Gonzalez, Genesis 1-22 Montalvo, and Idalia Rojas; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The dedication and hard work that these students 1-24 have shown have earned them the respect of their community, and 2-1 they are a source of great pride to all who know them; now, 2-2 therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby commend the outstanding students of the 2-5 Edcouch-Elsa School District and extend to them sincere best wishes 2-6 for continued success and happiness in all their future endeavors; 2-7 and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for these exemplary students as an expression of high 2-10 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
