R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) are dedicated
1-2 individuals who give generously of their time and energy to benefit
1-3 G. C. Scarborough High School in Houston, and during the week of
1-4 April 4-10, 1999, these caring men and women will be honored for
1-5 their selfless efforts; and
1-6 WHEREAS, During all hours of the day, VIPS can be found
1-7 monitoring the parking lots, answering telephones, assisting with
1-8 registration, and engaging in numerous other activities that
1-9 provide assistance to the faculty, staff, and students of
1-10 Scarborough High School; and
1-11 WHEREAS, In addition to providing administrative assistance,
1-12 VIPS personally share their expertise with students in such diverse
1-13 areas as business, technology, history, and the arts, and they also
1-14 serve as mentors for students as they consider their future beyond
1-15 high school; and
1-16 WHEREAS, During the school's Volunteer Appreciation Week, a
1-17 "Scroll of Honor" will be on display listing the names of VIPS
1-18 serving the Scarborough campus, and special decorations will also
1-19 be visible throughout the school to express the appreciation of all
1-20 who benefit from the service of these dedicated people; and
1-21 WHEREAS, The many committed VIPS who contribute to the
1-22 success of the school indeed merit special recognition, for they
1-23 help to provide a strong foundation for the students of G. C.
1-24 Scarborough High School; now, therefore, be it
2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-2 Legislature hereby commend the Volunteers in Public Schools for
2-3 their outstanding efforts in behalf of the students and faculty of
2-4 G. C. Scarborough High School and that the volunteers be extended
2-5 warmest best wishes for continued success with this admirable
2-6 endeavor; and, be it further
2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-8 prepared for members of Scarborough High School's Volunteers in
2-9 Public Schools as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
2-10 of Representatives.
