R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride
 1-2     in recognizing April 8, 1999, as "GO TEXAN" Day at the Capitol, in
 1-3     honor of the significant role Texas agriculture has played in the
 1-4     history and the economy of our state and the unveiling of the "GO
 1-5     TEXAN" Program established by the Texas Department of Agriculture
 1-6     to promote Texas agricultural products; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Agriculture is the state's second largest industry,
 1-8     and Texas is the second leading state in the nation in agricultural
 1-9     cash receipts, earning nearly $15 billion a year, and the industry
1-10     employs one in five working Texans; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The "GO TEXAN" Program will enhance the marketing of
1-12     Texas agricultural products through a partnership between the Texas
1-13     Department of Agriculture and producers, commodity organizations,
1-14     cooperatives, and other organizations and small businesses to
1-15     increase consumer awareness and expand markets for Texas
1-16     agricultural products; now, therefore, be it
1-17           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-18     Legislature hereby honor all Texans associated with Texas
1-19     agriculture and the "GO TEXAN" Program and recognize April 8, 1999,
1-20     as "GO TEXAN" Day at the Capitol; and, be it further   RESOLVED,
1-21     That an official copy of this resolution be prepared in honor of
1-22     the Texas agricultural industry and the "GO TEXAN" Program as an
1-23     expression of appreciation by the Texas House of Representatives.
