R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas 1-2 proudly recognizes the Lubbock Trinity Christian boys' basketball 1-3 team for winning the TAPPS Class 4A state basketball championship; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Runnin' Lions defeated San Antonio Castle Hills 1-6 67-65 in the semifinals and defeated Fort Worth Christian 67-53 in 1-7 the final to win the state championship; and 1-8 WHEREAS, This state championship victory is the first time 1-9 for the Lubbock Trinity Christian boys' basketball team to capture 1-10 the title; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The Lions won 20 games in a row, compiled an overall 1-12 record of 32-4, and were undefeated in TAPPS District 2-4A; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The Runnin' Lions basketball team's success is 1-14 attributable to God's goodness and blessings and to the tremendous 1-15 work ethic, attitude, and enthusiasm of the team members; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The team members are Gary Andrews, Rance Bland, 1-17 Billy Joe Nuefeld, Jared Duyck, Ryan Findley, Brandon Gilbert, 1-18 David Hollon, Chad Huddleston, Dustin Patterson, Chris Lackey, Josh 1-19 Motlong, Jeremy Brown, Beau Hughes, and Matt Wester; and 1-20 WHEREAS, These young men, along with head coach Todd Duncan, 1-21 assistant coaches Frank Haist and Todd Hay, trainer Arnie Reyher, 1-22 and student assistant coaches Will Harriger, Jamie Eppler, and 1-23 Jonathan Akers, have brought honor to God, their families, the City 1-24 of Lubbock, and Trinity Christian Schools, and the Runnin' Lions 2-1 are worthy of the recognition bestowed on them; now, therefore, be 2-2 it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of 2-4 Texas, 76th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the members of the 2-5 Runnin' Lions basketball team of Trinity Christian Schools on their 2-6 great victory and extend congratulations to the coaches and to each 2-7 of the players; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the 2-9 team as a token of esteem from the Texas House of Representatives.
