R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
1-2 honor the Texas Real Estate Commission as it celebrates its 50th
1-3 anniversary this year; and
1-4 WHEREAS, In 1949, the Texas Legislature created the Texas
1-5 Real Estate Commission (TREC) as a separate state agency and
1-6 established its legal responsibility to serve the state's citizens;
1-7 and
1-8 WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, the agency has successfully
1-9 honored its commitment to protecting consumers, ensuring the
1-10 availability of qualified and honest real estate professionals, and
1-11 fostering economic growth in Texas; and
1-12 WHEREAS, Through the implementation of programs in
1-13 professional licensing, education, and enforcement of real estate
1-14 standards, the TREC has provided for the availability of
1-15 effectively trained, professionally qualified, and ethically
1-16 responsible real estate service providers; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Over the course of the past half-century, more than
1-18 465,000 Texans have been licensed by the TREC, with more than
1-19 112,000 licenses and registrations currently in effect for brokers,
1-20 salespersons, property inspectors, easement or right-of-way agents,
1-21 education providers, residential service companies, and time-share
1-22 developers; now, therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-24 Legislature hereby recognize the Texas Real Estate Commission on
2-1 the occasion of its 50th anniversary and commend its members for
2-2 their outstanding efforts in behalf of the people of Texas; and, be
2-3 it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for the Texas Real Estate Commission as an expression of
2-6 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
