                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Jimmie D. Mills, Jr.,
 1-2     were greatly saddened by his passing on May 16, 1998, at the age of
 1-3     73; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Mills was born July 15, 1924, in
 1-5     Dodd City, and attended Dodd City High School, where he
 1-6     distinguished himself as the 1941 Fannin County high jump and
 1-7     half-mile run champion; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, On July 1, 1946, he and his wife, Sandra, were
 1-9     married,  and they enjoyed a relationship that continued to grow in
1-10     mutual admiration, affection, and respect through the years; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Mills served as an aerial gunner and radio
1-12     operator during World War II and as an ordnance officer during the
1-13     Korean War, and his military decorations included the Meritorious
1-14     Service Medal, the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the
1-15     World War II Victory Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the
1-16     United Nations Service Medal; and
1-17           WHEREAS, A vital and valued citizen of Paris, he was a real
1-18     estate appraiser and active member of the Paris Board of Realtors,
1-19     and was a former president, vice president, secretary, and
1-20     treasurer of that organization; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Jimmie D. Mills, Jr., was an outstanding asset to
1-22     his community, and although he is deeply missed, his spirit lives
1-23     on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known him;
1-24     now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jimmie D.  Mills,
 2-3     Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
 2-4     his wife, Sandra; to his children and their spouses, Colonel Jim
 2-5     Mills and Donna Mills, Dr. Leigh S. Scott and Clyde Scott, DeeDee
 2-6     Alsup and Ross Alsup, and Marisa M. Downs and Downy Downs; to his
 2-7     grandchildren, Chandra Mills, Fancy Mills, Jimmie D. Mills III,
 2-8     Bryan Scott and his wife, Jennifer, Brad Scott, Ben Alsup, Andy
 2-9     Alsup, Dara Downs, and Dace Downs; to his great-granddaughter,
2-10     Jessica Scott; to his brothers, Bruce Mills and Johnny Mills; and
2-11     to his dear friends, Gene and Betty Overstreet; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-14     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-15     Jimmie D.  Mills, Jr.
