R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to pay
1-2 tribute to Betty Coffey, who retired as director of personnel and
1-3 civil service secretary for the City of Corsicana on January 8,
1-4 1999, concluding an outstanding record of public service; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Coffey began her exemplary career with the
1-6 city secretary's office in 1953; she left after three years to
1-7 devote her time and energy to raising her children; and
1-8 WHEREAS, In 1972, she returned to public service as a clerk
1-9 and dispatcher, a job she held for 2-1/2 years before accepting a
1-10 position in the city secretary's office; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Appreciated by her peers for her honesty,
1-12 enthusiasm, and straightforward manner, Mrs. Coffey was
1-13 instrumental to the smooth daily functioning of the city's
1-14 administration; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Throughout her notable career, Betty Coffey
1-16 exemplified the highest ideals of the public service profession,
1-17 and she is truly worthy of special recognition at this time; now,
1-18 therefore, be it
1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th
1-20 Texas Legislature hereby commend Betty Coffey for her dedication to
1-21 the citizens of Corsicana and extend to her sincere best wishes for
1-22 a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further
1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
1-24 prepared for Mrs. Coffey as an expression of high regard by the
2-1 Texas House of Representatives.
