R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is proud to honor Billy
1-2 Roeder of Fredericksburg for his commitment to the Sheep and Goat
1-3 Predator Management Board; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Established in 1992 by the Texas Sheep and Goat
1-5 Raisers' Association in an effort to address the problem of loss of
1-6 livestock to predators, the Sheep and Goat Predator Management
1-7 Board includes three elected directors in each of three districts
1-8 who serve a total area of 111 counties; in 1997, the name was
1-9 changed from the Sheep and Goat Commodity Board to more clearly
1-10 define its purpose; and
1-11 WHEREAS, The board focuses its efforts and money on predator
1-12 control, but also allocates funds for research and educational
1-13 programs about livestock loss; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Mr. Roeder's distinguished tenure as a District III
1-15 director began with his election in 1992; after completing a
1-16 two-year term, he replaced a director in 1995 and another in 1998,
1-17 capably finishing their allotted terms, which extended his service
1-18 as a director by more than 4 years; when not handling
1-19 responsibilities as a director, Mr. Roeder was an active member of
1-20 the advisory committee; and
1-21 WHEREAS, A county commissioner in his home area of
1-22 Fredericksburg, Mr. Roeder has provided invaluable insight to the
1-23 Sheep and Goat Predator Management Board, and he is also
1-24 appreciated for his straightforward manner and use of humor while
2-1 making his point during discussions; and
2-2 WHEREAS, Billy Roeder has contributed to the betterment of
2-3 this state through his longtime dedication to the Texas livestock
2-4 industry, and he is indeed worthy of special recognition at this
2-5 time; now, therefore, be it
2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-7 Legislature hereby commend Billy Roeder for his distinguished
2-8 service to the Sheep and Goat Predator Management Board and extend
2-9 to him sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the future;
2-10 and, be it further
2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-12 prepared for Mr. Roeder as an expression of high regard by the
2-13 Texas House of Representatives.
