R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 welcome the TX 963 Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps 1-3 (JROTC) unit from C. E. King High School in Houston to the State 1-4 Capitol on April 23, 1999; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The dedicated students of this distinguished Air 1-6 Force JROTC program are learning valuable lessons and skills that 1-7 are mentally and physically challenging and empower them to excel 1-8 in and out of the classroom; and 1-9 WHEREAS, They recently competed at the annual American 1-10 Legion/Coca-Cola Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps National 1-11 Championship Drill Competition held in Montgomery, Alabama, with 1-12 more than 6,000 cadets from 115 schools across the United States, 1-13 and they won five trophies, including Air Force Division National 1-14 Championship Demilitarized Exhibition and National Championship 1-15 Best New School; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The students in the unit are Elizabeth Celestino, 1-17 Amy Megerle, Rotasha Mayweather, Lenny Jimenez, Carissa Kirkland, 1-18 Erika Ramirez, Mildred Peralta, Johanna Gaviria, Stacey Neill, 1-19 Michele Pena, Crystal Semien, Priscilla Garza, Paula Pena-Gonzalez, 1-20 Susie Cervantez, Norma Gonzalez, Michael Tillis, Patrick Meredith, 1-21 Julius Ortega, Emmanuel Perez, Ryan Johnston, Antonio Cisneros, 1-22 Joshua Dawson, Landon Cruz, Joe Lozano, Marshall Tillis, Michael 1-23 Tijerina, Jake Redmond, Mark Rainwater, Alicia Hubbard, Trayshard 1-24 Sorrell, Chaunci Dawson, and Juan Loya; they are led by instructors 2-1 Major Larry Pfeifer, Master Sergeant Judi Haskins, and Master 2-2 Sergeant Ray Watson; and 2-3 WHEREAS, The talented members and instructors of the TX 963 2-4 Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps unit have 2-5 distinguished themselves as outstanding Texans, and it is indeed 2-6 fitting to pay tribute to them at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby welcome the TX 963 Air Force Junior Reserve 2-9 Officer Training Corps unit from C. E. King High School to the 2-10 State Capitol and extend to all associated with this commendable 2-11 group sincere best wishes for an enjoyable visit.
