                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Clifton O. Floyd, at the age of 79,
 1-2     has brought a great loss to the family and many friends of this
 1-3     native Texan and the San Antonio community of which he was such a
 1-4     valued member; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. Floyd was born in San Antonio on August 8, 1919;
 1-6     he was an exemplary resident of that city throughout his life,
 1-7     deeply committed to his country, his community, and his faith; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, A retired civil servant, Mr. Floyd was employed with
 1-9     Kelly Air Force Base for 34 years; his recognized service in the
1-10     armed forces of the United States was a source of great pride for
1-11     this Lone Star patriot, and he now rests  honorably in the Fort Sam
1-12     Houston military cemetery; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Deeply committed to civic advancement, Mr. Floyd was
1-14     a lifelong member of the NAACP; his concern and compassion for
1-15     others encouraged him in all he accomplished, including his
1-16     respected membership on the board of the Sheltering Arms senior
1-17     citizen complex; and
1-18           WHEREAS, A longtime member of Mount Zion First Baptist
1-19     Church, Mr. Floyd served his fellow parishioners  as both a  deacon
1-20     and a trustee and he received much fulfillment from this service;
1-21     his generosity, warm nature, and willingness to help were
1-22     inspirational, and he will continue to brighten the memories of the
1-23     many people whose lives he touched, and it is indeed appropriate to
1-24     honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby pay tribute to Clifton O. Floyd and extend
 2-3     sincere sympathy to the family, friends, and fellow community
 2-4     members of this esteemed gentleman; and, be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for his family as an expression of high regard by the
 2-7     Texas House of Representatives.
