R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
1-2 who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a
1-3 memorable occasion; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Harry and Dorothy Conley will commemorate such an
1-5 event with a dinner party for family and friends hosted by their
1-6 daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene Conley, Judy Conley, Carol and
1-7 Brad Fisher, and Cheryl and Ronnie Gajeske; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Joined in matrimony on April 20, 1949, in Houston at
1-9 The Lord's Church, the Conleys established their life together in
1-10 the Houston area, where Mr. Conley worked for Carnation Company and
1-11 Mrs. Conley was employed by Texaco Corporation; and
1-12 WHEREAS, In 1956 Mr. Conley founded Har-Con, Inc., a
1-13 mechanical contracting company, and, with the birth of their first
1-14 daughter, Mrs. Conley decided to dedicate her time to raising the
1-15 couple's beloved daughters; and
1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Conley are devoted members of Grace
1-17 Community Church, and Mrs. Conley has contributed her time to the
1-18 church as a Sunday school teacher, bulletin writer and producer,
1-19 Ladies Guild President, and choir member; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Mr. Conley is a director of the Houston Livestock
1-21 Show & Rodeo and is a member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
1-22 International Committee; in addition, he is a member of the
1-23 Mechanical Contractor's Association, an organization which he once
1-24 served as president; and
2-1 WHEREAS, The proud grandparents of four grandchildren, Aaron,
2-2 Holly, Andrew, and Jacob, this splendid couple enjoys spending time
2-3 with their family and relaxing at their house on Lake Conroe; and
2-4 WHEREAS, For half a century, Mr. and Mrs. Conley have shared
2-5 a warm and affectionate relationship filled with many happy times
2-6 and cherished family memories, and it is truly fitting that they be
2-7 recognized at this time; now, therefore, be it
2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-9 Legislature hereby honor Harry and Dorothy Conley on their 50th
2-10 wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
2-11 happiness in the years to come; and, be it further
2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Conley as an expression of high regard by
2-14 the Texas House of Representatives.
