                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Karen Kristene Reyes on
 1-2     August 22, 1998, at the age of 23, brought a great loss to the
 1-3     family and many friends of this fine young Texan; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native and lifelong resident of Alpine, Ms. Reyes
 1-5     was born August 12, 1975; a graduate of Alpine High School, she
 1-6     furthered her education at Sul Ross State University, where she
 1-7     garnered a bachelor of arts degree in business in May 1998; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Ms. Reyes was very much a part
 1-9     of her close-knit hometown, and she worked for five years at City
1-10     Drug in the bookkeeping department; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Ms. Reyes was a woman of great faith and compassion,
1-12     and her strength of character enabled her to instigate many
1-13     remarkable changes in her life and in the lives of others; although
1-14     her presence will be deeply missed, her unique spirit will surely
1-15     live on in the hearts of those who knew her; now, therefore, be it
1-16           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-17     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Karen Kristene Reyes
1-18     and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
1-19     parents, Merardo "Lalo" and  Emma Reyes; to her sister, Erica
1-20     Reyes; to her grandfather, Conrad Arriola, Sr.; to her uncles,
1-21     Conrad Arriola, Jr., Michael Arriola, and Roman De La O; to her
1-22     aunts, Bertha Arriola, Eva Arriola, Rosario De La O, and Concha
1-23     Molinar; to her cousins, Jackie Arriola, Conrad Jon Arriola,
1-24     Kristin Arriola, Amanda De La O, Steven De La O, Linda Molinar,
 2-1     Kimberly Barton, Jessica Franco, and Cathy Carillo; and to all the
 2-2     relatives and friends whose lives were touched by this beloved
 2-3     young individual; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
 2-6     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
 2-7     Karen Kristene Reyes.
