                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Dentists Who Care, Inc., has been named the group
 1-2     winner of the Governor's Volunteer Award, and the members of this
 1-3     noteworthy organization are truly worthy of special legislative
 1-4     recognition for this achievement and for their outstanding record
 1-5     of community service; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, A nonprofit group comprising 90 volunteer dentists
 1-7     from the Rio Grande Valley District Dental Society, Dentists Who
 1-8     Care, Inc., is dedicated to meeting the dental needs of area
 1-9     children from indigent and working-poor families; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Established in early 1998, the group's Charity
1-11     Dental Voucher Program has provided more than 400 schoolchildren
1-12     with vouchers that may be redeemed for free dental services at
1-13     their families' convenience; Rio Grande Valley school nurses and
1-14     teachers assist in identifying children who need dental attention
1-15     and distribute the $100 vouchers accordingly; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The group's services range from basic dental hygiene
1-17     education to immediate dental attention, and members receive no
1-18     compensation other than the pride gained from helping those in
1-19     need; and
1-20           WHEREAS, The members of Dentists Who Care, Inc., have made a
1-21     profound difference in the quality of life of the children they
1-22     serve, and these dedicated professionals and all those individuals
1-23     who contribute to the success of this exceptional program are to be
1-24     heartily commended; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby recognize the members of Dentists Who Care,
 2-3     Inc., for their efforts in behalf of the citizens of the Rio Grande
 2-4     Valley and extend to them congratulations on their receipt of the
 2-5     Governor's Volunteer Award; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for the members of Dentists Who Care, Inc., as an
 2-8     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
