                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Duncanville High School boys varsity basketball
 1-2     team recently won its second 5A State Basketball Championship of
 1-3     the decade, and the team's players, coaches, and staff are indeed
 1-4     deserving of special legislative recognition for this achievement;
 1-5     and
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Panthers defeated the Kimball High School
 1-7     Knights by a score of 78-61 at The University of Texas at Austin's
 1-8     Frank Erwin Center, displaying remarkable teamwork and drive as
 1-9     they captured the coveted state title; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Led by Head Coach Phil McNeely and Assistant Coach
1-11     Dean McGuire, the Panthers featured a balanced attack that resulted
1-12     in the team's five starters each scoring in double figures, while
1-13     the team's reserves made timely and valuable contributions; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Team members include Tre' Johnson, Doug Jones,
1-15     Roosevelt Brown, Victor Sobers, Ken Hendrix, Terrance Johnson,
1-16     Kevin Lake, Greg Ware, Hassn Coneth, Brandon Cregler, tournament
1-17     MVP Brian Boddicker, Ryan Randle, and David Sykes; and
1-18           WHEREAS, The Panthers boys varsity basketball team is a
1-19     source of great pride to the students, faculty, and staff of
1-20     Duncanville High School, and it is truly a privilege to honor these
1-21     outstanding athletes at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate the Duncanville High School boys
1-24     varsity basketball team on winning the 1999 5A State Basketball
 2-1     Championship and extend to the team members, coaches, and staff
 2-2     best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-4     prepared for the team members and their coaches and staff as an
 2-5     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
