R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride 1-2 in recognizing May 3-7, 1999, as Municipal Clerks Week in Texas, 1-3 for the commendable individuals who serve in this important role 1-4 are indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The municipal clerk is among the oldest of public 1-6 servant positions, and it serves as a vital part of local 1-7 government throughout the world; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Providing the professional link between citizens, 1-9 local governing bodies, and agencies of government at other levels, 1-10 municipal clerks have pledged themselves to efficiency and 1-11 impartiality, rendering skilled and equal service to all; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The municipal clerk's office serves as the 1-13 information center for community and local government functions, 1-14 and throughout Texas, municipal clerks continually strive to 1-15 improve and expedite administrative functions through their 1-16 participation in educational programs, seminars, workshops, and the 1-17 annual meetings of their state, county, and international 1-18 professional organizations; and 1-19 WHEREAS, For the necessary services they perform and for 1-20 their exemplary dedication to the communities they represent, 1-21 municipal clerks truly merit commendation at this time; now, 1-22 therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby recognize May 3-7, 1999, as Municipal Clerks 2-1 Week in Texas and extend a warm welcome to the visiting members of 2-2 the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program (TMCCP); and, be 2-3 it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for the TMCCP delegates as a commemoration of this grand 2-6 occasion and as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 2-7 Representatives.
