R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On June 18, 1998, Abilene's Danyelle Rideout was 1-2 crowned Miss Rodeo Texas at the annual Miss Rodeo Texas pageant in 1-3 San Antonio, and this outstanding young woman is indeed deserving 1-4 of special legislative recognition for her service in this 1-5 demanding role; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The Miss Rodeo Texas pageant celebrates the beauty, 1-7 grace, personality, and horsemanship of cowgirls from across the 1-8 state while also emphasizing communication skills and knowledge of 1-9 the sport of rodeo; winners of this coveted title help to promote 1-10 professional rodeo and our western heritage by appearing at 1-11 parades, school events, fund-raisers, civic functions, and, of 1-12 course, rodeos; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Ms. Rideout entered the pageant as the reigning Miss 1-14 Rodeo Top O' Texas, a title she won in Pampa; contestants must be 1-15 between 18 and 24 years of age and must hold a local, regional, or 1-16 area title in order to compete; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A preveterinary medicine and biology major at 1-18 Canyon's West Texas A&M University, Ms. Rideout plans to continue 1-19 her education as a student of veterinary medicine at Texas A&M 1-20 University in College Station; a 1995 honors graduate of Abilene 1-21 Christian High School, she is a former Miss West Texas Rodeo Teen 1-22 (1992) and was voted Miss Congeniality in the Miss Rodeo Texas Teen 1-23 Pageant in 1993; and 1-24 WHEREAS, The Miss Rodeo Texas pageant has been a Texas 2-1 tradition for more than three decades, and it is indeed a privilege 2-2 to recognize this unique event and to pay tribute to the reigning 2-3 Miss Rodeo Texas, Danyelle Rideout; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate Danyelle Rideout on being selected 2-6 Miss Rodeo Texas 1998 and extend to her best wishes for continued 2-7 success and happiness in her many exciting endeavors; and, be it 2-8 further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Ms. Rideout as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
