                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately convey the deep shock and
 1-2     sorrow felt by all Texans, and those across the nation, at the
 1-3     tragic loss of life that has occurred in Littleton, Colorado; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, At approximately 11:30 a.m., on April 20, 1999, two
 1-5     heavily-armed students at Columbine High School entered the school
 1-6     grounds and began firing at people; by the time the shooting had
 1-7     ended, the gunmen had killed more than a dozen and wounded at least
 1-8     23 people, most of them fellow students, before taking their own
 1-9     lives in the school library; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The loss of so many young lives has created a void
1-11     that can never be filled for survivors and their families; our
1-12     thoughts and prayers are with them on this solemn day, and it is
1-13     fitting at this time that we remember the individuals who were
1-14     killed or injured in this tragic event; now, therefore, be it
1-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-16     Legislature hereby honor the memory of the students and teachers of
1-17     Columbine High School who lost their lives in this horrific event
1-18     and extend deepest sympathy to all those whose lives have been
1-19     profoundly affected by this tragedy; and, be it further
1-20           RESOLVED, That when the Texas House of Representatives
1-21     adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the innocent victims who
 2-1     died in the Littleton, Colorado, shooting.   BEGCAPTION
