                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Ruben Garibay, president of A-1 Auto Stop in Laredo,
 1-2     has been selected as Small Business Person of the Year by the San
 1-3     Antonio District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration,
 1-4     and this honor is indeed well deserved; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, After studying mechanical engineering at The
 1-6     University of Texas at San Antonio, he returned to Laredo in 1991
 1-7     and founded A-1 Auto Stop with his brother Naphtali Garibay; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The Garibays initially performed their repairs in
 1-9     the driveway of Ruben's home, but under his expert guidance, the
1-10     enterprise has experienced  steady and positive growth and is now
1-11     housed in a state-of-the-art 22,000-square-foot facility employing
1-12     15 highly qualified technicians and support staff members; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A-1 Auto Stop maintains membership in such esteemed
1-14     organizations as the Automotive Service Association, the Texas
1-15     Independent Automotive Association, and the Sherwin Williams A-Plus
1-16     Program; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Garibay is as generous as he is successful,  for
1-18     he volunteers the use of his company van to nonprofit organizations
1-19     and has provided financial support to area high schools, as well as
1-20     the March of Dimes, United Way, the Christmas Angel Wish, and other
1-21     local charities; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Ruben Garibay has shown exemplary dedication to his
1-23     community as a business leader and as a supporter of many worthy
1-24     civic concerns, and it is most fitting that he be given special
 2-1     legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby congratulate Ruben Garibay on being named Small
 2-4     Business Person of the Year by the San Antonio District Office of
 2-5     the U.S. Small Business Administration and that he be extended
 2-6     sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for Mr. Garibay as an expression of high regard by the
 2-9     Texas House of Representatives.
