                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Growing communities are often deprived of open
 1-2     spaces, leaving children without adequate play areas and forcing
 1-3     them to utilize the streets for play fields, thereby exposing them
 1-4     to the risk of injury from automobile accidents; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Many new urban neighborhoods are developed each year
 1-6     and are rapidly populated by residents who remain strangers to one
 1-7     another, isolated within their respective homes; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Neighborhood parks can be located within walking and
 1-9     biking distance and provide children with easy access to
1-10     much-needed green spaces and play fields; these parks become
1-11     meeting places that encourage interaction between neighbors,
1-12     allowing strangers to become friends and tying communities together
1-13     as caring extended families; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The Conroe Noon Lions Club recognizes the importance
1-15     of neighborhood parks in the life of the community and has donated
1-16     $25,000 to the City of Conroe to support the development of a 3-1/2
1-17     acre neighborhood park that includes a picnic area, playground,
1-18     basketball court, and play field; and
1-19           WHEREAS, In grateful recognition of the generosity and civic
1-20     pride displayed by the Conroe Noon Lions Club and its members, the
1-21     City of Conroe has named the new park the "Lions Park," and it is
1-22     appropriate to take this opportunity to acknowledge those
1-23     associated with this worthy endeavor; now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby commend the Conroe Noon Lions Club for its
 2-2     contribution to the quality of life enjoyed by the residents of
 2-3     Conroe, and that the members of the Conroe City Council be
 2-4     congratulated upon the establishment of the Lions Park; and, be it
 2-5     further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for the Conroe Noon Lions Club and the City of Conroe as
 2-8     an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
