R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Zachary B. Bell on April 18,
 1-2     1999, at the age of 20, has brought an irreplaceable loss to the
 1-3     family and many friends of this esteemed young gentleman, and it is
 1-4     most appropriate that we honor his memory at this time; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Born in 1978 with cystic fibrosis, Mr. Bell was not
 1-6     expected to live more than two or three years; despite having to
 1-7     cope with his disease every day of his life, this remarkable young
 1-8     man endeavored to realize his dreams; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, He graduated from the Episcopal School of Dallas in
1-10     1997, where he served as editor of the high school newspaper; a
1-11     movie buff since the age of eight, Mr. Bell was one of only 32
1-12     students selected from hundreds of applicants to study film at the
1-13     University of Southern California Film School; he fulfilled more of
1-14     his significant potential as a highly valued employee of Miramax
1-15     Films; and
1-16           WHEREAS, During his short time here, Mr. Bell reminded us
1-17     that the ability to give and inspire love is not limited by age or
1-18     time and that we all have many more blessings than we may realize;
1-19     and
1-20           WHEREAS, Although it is painful to say goodbye to one so
1-21     young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember his profound
1-22     impact on those around him, and he will long be remembered as a man
1-23     of honor and integrity by the many people who knew and admired him;
1-24     now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby honor the memory of Zachary B. Bell and extend
 2-3     sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his parents,
 2-4     David and Betty Jo Bell; to his grandparents, Arnold and Sylvia
 2-5     Mandel; and to the many other friends and relatives of this
 2-6     exceptional young man; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
 2-9     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-10     Zachary B. Bell.
