                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The October 1998 flood which devastated so much of
 1-2     South Texas hit especially hard in San Antonio and is the worst
 1-3     natural disaster ever to befall that city, yet the men and women of
 1-4     the San Antonio Police Department proved that even in the darkest
 1-5     hour help is available; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Eleven members of the Alamo City department deserve
 1-7     special recognition, for all went above and beyond the call of duty
 1-8     to protect the residents of San Antonio; in 11 different ways, with
 1-9     11 different outcomes, these brave men offered invaluable
1-10     assistance through a time the likes of which this state hopes never
1-11     to see again; and
1-12           WHEREAS, For their bravery and selfless heroism, and for
1-13     their distinguished service to the city of San Antonio and the
1-14     citizens of Texas, it is indeed an honor to commend these 11
1-15     officers at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-16           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-17     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the heroes of the San Antonio
1-18     Police Department,  in particular to Sergeant Lawrence Keys,
1-19     Detective-Investigator Anthony Johnson, and officers Larry
1-20     Thompson, Jesse Allen, Robert Larios, James Sanford, Richard
1-21     Garcia, Lloyd Jackel, Kevin Luzius, William Hixon, and Brett
1-22     Bottenfield, and extend to these men and the entire department
1-23     warmest thanks and sincere best wishes for great success and
1-24     happiness in the years ahead; and, be it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for each of  these named officers, and one for prominent
 2-3     display within the San Antonio Police Department, as an expression
 2-4     of highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
