R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, It is always a pleasure to honor those individuals
 1-2     who have served the citizens of the Lone Star State with integrity
 1-3     and distinction, and Linda Nance of San Antonio is one such
 1-4     individual; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Born in Centerville, Mrs. Nance earned a bachelor of
 1-6     arts degree in biology and French from Huston-Tillotson College,
 1-7     and later earned a master of arts degree from The University of
 1-8     Texas at San Antonio and a master of education degree from Trinity
 1-9     University; and
1-10           WHEREAS, An educator for more than 25 years, Mrs. Nance has
1-11     taught biology and French, chaired the multilingual department, and
1-12     worked as an administrative assistant, an elementary principal, and
1-13     a high school principal in the San Antonio Independent School
1-14     District; in addition, she has served on the superintendent's
1-15     advisory committee and the state writing team for foreign
1-16     languages, among other noteworthy groups; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mrs. Nance is a devoted member of Hope Presbyterian
1-18     Church and serves as an elder on the governance board; an active
1-19     member of her community, this admirable woman has served on the San
1-20     Antonio Boy's and Men's Choir Advisory Board and is a member of
1-21     Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Mrs. Nance has been featured in San Antonio Monthly,
1-23     has been recognized as an outstanding teacher by several notable
1-24     organizations, and was presented with the San Antonio Independent
 2-1     School District Award of Merit for her outstanding work in the
 2-2     Multilingual Program; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, At this time, it is most fitting that we recognize
 2-4     Linda Nance for her many contributions to the field of education
 2-5     and her commitment to improving, developing, and enriching the
 2-6     lives of her fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-8     Legislature hereby commend Linda Nance for her fine work in behalf
 2-9     of the citizens of Texas and extend to her sincere best wishes for
2-10     continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-12     prepared for Mrs. Nance as an expression of high regard by the
2-13     Texas House of Representatives.
