R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, San Antonio's Raymond J. Todd has distinguished 1-2 himself among his fellow Texans as both a dedicated student and a 1-3 civic-minded individual, and he is truly deserving of special 1-4 legislative recognition at this time; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A senior at Sam Houston High School, Mr. Todd is a 1-6 member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National 1-7 Honor Society, which he serves as secretary; he has demonstrated 1-8 his leadership skills as a member of the student council and has 1-9 received recognition as the most outstanding student in math, 1-10 history, and English during his high school career; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mr. Todd's scholastic achievements are mirrored by 1-12 his athletic prowess, as evidenced by his performance as a member 1-13 of his school's football, basketball, and track teams, and his 1-14 excellence as both a student and an athlete has earned him 1-15 recognition in Who's Who Among American High School Students for 1-16 four consecutive years; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This exemplary young man also makes time in his busy 1-18 schedule to serve his community; he assisted the Red Cross during 1-19 the flooding that occurred in Texas in 1998 and has served as a 1-20 Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) tutor, an instructional 1-21 dance teacher, and a volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Mr. Todd has narrowed his choices for the pursuit of 1-23 his higher education to either the University of Oklahoma or The 1-24 University of Texas at Austin, and regardless of his decision, he 2-1 will undoubtedly continue to excel in his many worthwhile pursuits; 2-2 now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby honor Raymond J. Todd for his outstanding 2-5 scholastic achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for 2-6 continued success and happiness in all his endeavors; and, be it 2-7 further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Todd as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives.
