                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the fine men and
 1-2     women in the law enforcement profession who, by their selfless
 1-3     dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the
 1-4     benefits of a peaceful and orderly society; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, These gallant individuals daily risk their lives in
 1-6     order to ensure domestic tranquillity and protect the lives and
 1-7     property of others; in their personal and professional conduct they
 1-8     exemplify the singular virtues of courage, integrity, and
 1-9     unwavering dedication; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Unfortunately, this vital profession is laden with
1-11     risks, and far too often it seems we hear of another brave officer
1-12     who has been killed in the line of duty; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Today, we honor the memory of the following
1-14     peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifice: Officer Cuong Huy
1-15     Trinh of the Houston Police Department, Officer Henry Allen Brown
1-16     of the Dallas Police Department, Officer Pete Johnson of the North
1-17     Harris County Montgomery College Police Department, Constable
1-18     Michael Eakin of the Harris County Sheriff's Department, Lieutenant
1-19     George M. Hendrix and Deputy Thomas Jay Smith of the Tarrant County
1-20     Sheriff's Department, Deputy Donald Roy Stockburger of the Pecos
1-21     County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Rebecca Shaw of the Harris
1-22     County Sheriff's Department, Officer Scott Harvick of the Mart
1-23     Police Department, Sergeant Kent Dean Kincaid of the Houston Police
1-24     Department, Sergeant Robert Michael Hankins of the Lamb County
 2-1     Sheriff's Department, Officer Tobin Thomas of the Eagle Lake Police
 2-2     Department, and Officer Ronnie Ray Lerma of the Garland Police
 2-3     Department; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, The untimely deaths of these peace officers
 2-5     represent a tragic loss to their families, to their fellow
 2-6     officers, and to the entire State of Texas, and their dedication
 2-7     and self-sacrifice will not soon be forgotten by those who follow
 2-8     in this difficult but essential profession; now, therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-10     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of these courageous law
2-11     enforcement officers and extend deepest sympathy to their families
2-12     and to all who were privileged to know them; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for the members of their families and that when the Texas
2-15     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in the memory
2-16     of these heroic public servants.
