No. 765 76R13832 BE-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride 1-2 in commemorating the exemplary career of Liberty-Eylau ISD 1-3 superintendent Nicholas Blain, for his longtime commitment to Texas 1-4 education indeed merits special legislative recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A graduate of Greenville High School, Mr. Blain 1-6 attended Texas A&M University, earning both a bachelor's and a 1-7 master's degree; he began his teaching career in 1967 in Nassau 1-8 County, Florida, but returned to Greenville in 1970, accepting a 1-9 position as the vocational agriculture instructor at his alma 1-10 mater; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Ability and commitment advanced Mr. Blain through a 1-12 number of increasingly responsible positions in the public school 1-13 system, and in 1991 he was appointed superintendent of the 1-14 Liberty-Eylau ISD; and 1-15 WHEREAS, He was awarded the title of Superintendent of the 1-16 Year for Region VIII in 1996, and he is an honorary life member of 1-17 both the Texas and national parent teacher associations; he has 1-18 also been cited as an Honorary Lone Star Farmer by the Texas FFA 1-19 Association for his many years of service in behalf of agricultural 1-20 and vocational education; and 1-21 WHEREAS, In addition to his dedication to the schoolchildren 1-22 of Texas, Mr. Blain is an outstanding civic leader; he is a 1-23 longtime member of the Liberty-Eylau Kiwanis Club, having served as 1-24 secretary, president, and as a member of the board of directors, 2-1 and he has served with the local chamber of commerce, the American 2-2 Red Cross, and the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Foundation as 2-3 well; and 2-4 WHEREAS, A commitment to education is something of a 2-5 tradition for Mr. Blain and his family: his wife of 30 years, Judy, 2-6 is a secretary at Liberty-Eylau High School, their son, Chad, is 2-7 assistant principal at Pleasant Grove Elementary School in 2-8 Texarkana, and Chad's wife, Jami, is a teacher at Liberty-Eylau 2-9 Primary School; and 2-10 WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Nicholas Blain has been 2-11 a determined and effective leader in the field of education, and it 2-12 is indeed appropriate to recognize him for his many significant 2-13 achievements; now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-15 Legislature hereby commend Nicholas Blain for his many years of 2-16 service to the schoolchildren of the Lone Star State and extend to 2-17 him warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, 2-18 be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-20 prepared for Mr. Blain as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-21 House of Representatives.
