R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Joan P. Holland of Farmers Branch has distinguished
 1-2     herself through her work as a licensed master of social work and an
 1-3     advanced clinical practitioner, and her commitment to the health
 1-4     and well-being of her fellow Texans indeed merits legislative
 1-5     recognition; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Ms. Holland began her education in sociology at
 1-7     Oklahoma State University and will soon complete her master's
 1-8     degree through The University of Texas at Arlington; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, For her master's program, Ms. Holland has chosen
1-10     administration and community practice as a major area of study, and
1-11     her ability and dedication have earned her a legislative field
1-12     internship with state Representative Glenn Lewis; and
1-13           WHEREAS, The internship represents a remarkable opportunity
1-14     to learn and experience the legislative process and its potential
1-15     in shaping and responding to community needs; in addition, the
1-16     program provides an avenue for Ms. Holland's valuable insight,
1-17     experience, and dynamic energy; and
1-18           WHEREAS, This able resident of the Lone Star State is
1-19     co-owner and vice president of Dallas-based GHT, Inc., a contract
1-20     social work management firm that specializes in consulting and
1-21     training services for a variety of health service providers; and
1-22           WHEREAS, She is also a founding partner with Special Care
1-23     Seminars, a former Dallas County adult protective services
1-24     supervisor with the Texas Department of Human Services, and a
 2-1     long-time volunteer with a number of area agencies and boards
 2-2     including the Family Violence Coalition of Dallas County, the AIDS
 2-3     Interfaith Network, and the Dallas Area Gerontological Society; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, The success Ms. Holland has achieved in her public
 2-5     life is reflected as well in her private life; she and her husband,
 2-6     R. Chris Holland, have been blessed with two children, Cindy and
 2-7     Jon, and the family is bound closely with the warm ties of love and
 2-8     loyalty; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, The  many professional and educational
2-10     accomplishments Ms. Holland has enjoyed are a clear reflection of
2-11     her tremendous concern for the quality of life of all Texans; her
2-12     talent and resolve will surely carry her far, and the entire state
2-13     will benefit; now, therefore, be it
2-14           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-15     Legislature hereby commend Joan P. Holland for her many
2-16     contributions to the citizens of this state and extend to her
2-17     warmest best wishes for even greater success and happiness in the
2-18     years to come; and, be it further
2-19           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-20     prepared for Ms. Holland as an expression of high regard by the
2-21     Texas House of Representatives.
