                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride
 1-2     in recognizing Travis Thornton of Liberty, as this distinguished
 1-3     young Texan has been accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy at
 1-4     Annapolis, Maryland, and this high honor indeed merits special
 1-5     legislative recognition; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, The proving grounds for this nation's foremost navy
 1-7     and marine corps officers, the campus at Annapolis offers young
 1-8     Americans a four-year program to hone the attributes of integrity,
 1-9     honor, and mutual respect; and
1-10           WHEREAS, A Liberty High School honor student with a number of
1-11     awards for scholarship, Travis Thornton is a member of the National
1-12     Honor Society as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; he
1-13     holds a place on the school's track and soccer teams and is an
1-14     accomplished marathoner; and
1-15           WHEREAS, His education and endurance will stand him in good
1-16     stead at Annapolis, which is known for its rigorous standards, and
1-17     all who know this fine young man are certain of his ability to
1-18     fully meet the challenges that lie ahead; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Induction Day is set for July 1, 1999, and on that
1-20     day, Travis Thornton will be sworn in as a freshman at the U.S.
1-21     Naval Academy; it is a great pleasure to join his proud parents,
1-22     Neal and Roberta Thornton, his brothers, Robert and Jack, and all
1-23     his family members and friends in paying tribute to this fine young
1-24     Texan as he prepares to enter this nation's preeminent naval
 2-1     training ground; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby commend Travis Thornton on his appointment to
 2-4     the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and extend to him warmest best
 2-5     wishes for success and happiness in the years ahead; and, be it
 2-6     further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for Mr. Thornton as an expression of highest regard by the
 2-9     Texas House of Representatives.
