R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texas
1-2 residents who have shared 70 happy and rewarding years of marriage
1-3 is truly a memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and
1-4 WHEREAS, L. J. and Jimmie Wayne of Pittsburg are
1-5 commemorating one such significant event in their lives on May 9,
1-6 1999, when they will celebrate their seven decades of mutual
1-7 affection and devotion; and
1-8 WHEREAS, The couple were wed in 1929, and since that time
1-9 their relationship has continued to grow in love and respect with
1-10 each passing year; and
1-11 WHEREAS, The Waynes are blessed with two sons, Larry Wayne
1-12 and a former member of the legislature, the Honorable Ralph Wayne,
1-13 both of whom have benefited immeasurably from their parents' love
1-14 and guidance through the years; today, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne also
1-15 enjoy the company of their four grandchildren, Mike Wayne, Pat
1-16 Wayne, Reb Wayne, and Tyler Wayne; and
1-17 WHEREAS, For 70 years, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne have enjoyed a warm
1-18 and affectionate union filled with many joyful times and cherished
1-19 family memories; their marriage is a source of continuing pride and
1-20 inspiration to their family and friends, and it is indeed
1-21 appropriate that this fortunate pair be honored at this time; now,
1-22 therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-24 Legislature hereby congratulate L. J. and Jimmie Wayne on the
2-1 momentous occasion of their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to
2-2 them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
2-3 further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Wayne as an expression of high regard by
2-6 the Texas House of Representatives.
