R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Mission's Manuel Tanguma, Jr., has been named
1-2 commander of the National Catholic War Veterans (NCWV), and he is
1-3 the first Hispanic and the first Texan to attain this prestigious
1-4 leadership position; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Commander Tanguma has been a member of the NCWV
1-6 since 1980, when he joined Roberto Gonzalez Post 1065 in Mission;
1-7 during his tenure with this esteemed local chapter, he has served
1-8 as post commander, second vice commander, and post historian; and
1-9 WHEREAS, He has also shared his expertise at the local level
1-10 as a member of the finance committee, as bingo chairman, as
1-11 Mother's Day festivities chairman, and as scout coordinator,
1-12 earning the respect and admiration of his fellow members for his
1-13 exemplary performance in those roles; and
1-14 WHEREAS, For six years, this noteworthy individual served as
1-15 director/trustee on the departmental level of the NCWV, and before
1-16 his appointment as national commander, he served on the national
1-17 level as first vice commander, third vice commander, welfare
1-18 officer, officer of the day, and director/trustee; and
1-19 WHEREAS, A longtime employee of the U.S. Treasury, Commander
1-20 Tanguma is a U.S. Air Force veteran and an active member of the
1-21 Texas Army National Guard; he has been supported in his many worthy
1-22 endeavors by his wife, Elvia, and his children, Manuel and Roxana,
1-23 and it is indeed a privilege to recognize him at this time; now,
1-24 therefore, be it
2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-2 Legislature hereby congratulate Manuel Tanguma, Jr., on his
2-3 selection as commander of the National Catholic War Veterans and
2-4 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
2-5 happiness; and, be it further
2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-7 prepared for Commander Tanguma as an expression of high regard by
2-8 the Texas House of Representatives.
