No. 820 76R13405 GMW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Charles Orean of Bedford is an outstanding civic 1-2 leader, and his many notable achievements are truly worthy of 1-3 special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Orean, who was born in Shiner and spent his 1-5 childhood in Houston, graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1-6 1963 and received a political science degree from the University of 1-7 Houston in 1967; he then served for two years in the United States 1-8 Army at Fort Bliss in El Paso before joining Allstate Insurance in 1-9 1972; and 1-10 WHEREAS, A Bedford resident since 1977, Mr. Orean is well 1-11 known and respected throughout the community; he has been a member 1-12 of the Bedford City Council since 1993 and was mayor pro tem from 1-13 1994 to 1995, and his dedication to his responsibilities and the 1-14 citizens of Bedford is notable; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In addition to his terms on the city council, he 1-16 served on the Planning and Zoning Commission from 1979 to 1992, 1-17 including 10 years as chairman, and on the Zoning Board of 1-18 Adjustment; he has also donated his time to the St. Michael 1-19 Catholic Community, Friends of the Bedford Public Library, the 1-20 Bedford Historical Foundation, and Trinity High School as a choir 1-21 booster; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Through the years he has drawn strength and 1-23 inspiration from his wife, the former Carol Howard, and his two 1-24 beloved daughters, Christine and Laura; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Charles Orean has distinguished himself as a vital 2-2 and valued member of his community, and it is most fitting that he 2-3 be recognized for his myriad accomplishments; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor Charles Orean for his many civic 2-6 contributions and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued 2-7 success and happiness; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Orean as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives.
