No. 840 76R14655 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Willie Lee Campbell Glass on May 2, 1-2 1999, has brought a great loss to the many friends and relatives of 1-3 this beloved woman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born to two distinguished Texas educators, 1-5 Mrs. Glass represented another generation of her family's devotion 1-6 to education and community leadership in the Lone Star State; she 1-7 graduated from the Nacogdoches high school that was named for her 1-8 father and from Prairie View A&M University and continued her 1-9 pursuit of academic excellence at Iowa State University, where she 1-10 earned a master's degree from the College of Home Economics; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, this esteemed educator was 1-12 accorded many well-deserved honors and accolades, including her 1-13 selection as a recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Citation 1-14 from the Iowa State University Alumni Association; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Glass exemplified the highest ideals of the 1-16 teaching profession, and she set high standards to which all may 1-17 aspire; she deeply touched the lives of countless students at Texas 1-18 College, Prairie View A&M University, and Tyler Junior College as 1-19 an inspirational teacher, mentor, and role model; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of 1-21 Mrs. Glass will long miss her presence, and she will surely be 1-22 remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to 1-23 come; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Willie Lee Campbell Glass 2-2 and extend sincere sympathy to her many friends and relatives; and, 2-3 be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-6 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-7 Willie Lee Campbell Glass.
