R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride
 1-2     in commemorating the 50th anniversary of Uvalde Memorial Hospital;
 1-3     and
 1-4           WHEREAS, This commendable organization was founded in 1949
 1-5     with the establishment of the Uvalde County Hospital Authority;
 1-6     serving a five-county region with a population of 45,000 residents,
 1-7     the hospital and the authority have overseen considerable growth in
 1-8     demand as well as rapid advances in technology and have fashioned
 1-9     the hospital into an outstanding health care provider; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Uvalde Memorial Hospital offers area residents a
1-11     broad variety of  services in state-of-the-art facilities,
1-12     including the Women's and Newborns' Center, Cardio-Respiratory
1-13     Clinic, Outpatient Surgery Unit, and two rural health clinics for
1-14     outlying areas; and
1-15           WHEREAS, With more than 400 employees and a payroll of over
1-16     $9 million, Uvalde Memorial Hospital is also an important economic
1-17     force in generating jobs, capital, and taxes for the region; and
1-18           WHEREAS, For half a century, the hospital and its governing
1-19     authority have provided the region's residents with vital medical
1-20     services through a determined commitment to quality care and
1-21     expansion; in light of the many years of excellent service provided
1-22     by the dedicated staff and volunteers of this fine facility, it is
1-23     a great pleasure to join in recognizing the hospital at this time;
1-24     now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby honor Uvalde Memorial Hospital on the occasion
 2-3     of its 50th anniversary and extend to all those associated with
 2-4     this exemplary institution warmest best wishes for continued
 2-5     success; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for Uvalde Memorial Hospital as an expression of high
 2-8     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
