R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Lee Scott Bloemendal for his personal achievements and his 1-3 outstanding pursuit of academic excellence as he prepares to 1-4 graduate from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Born May 25, 1973, in Denver, Colorado, 1-7 Mr. Bloemendal became a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity 1-8 before graduating cum laude from Southern Methodist University with 1-9 a bachelor of arts degree in biological sciences and a minor in 1-10 psychology in 1995; and 1-11 WHEREAS, This committed gentleman went on to attend The 1-12 University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and, on May 22, 1-13 1999, he will graduate from medical school and begin a new chapter 1-14 in his life as a resident in general surgery at Baylor Hospital in 1-15 Dallas; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The son of Dr. Lee Bloemendal and Marilyn 1-17 Bloemendal, he has greatly benefited from the love and support of 1-18 his wife, the former Duffy Evelyn Pitts, throughout his studies, 1-19 and he has also found time in his busy schedule to pursue such 1-20 varied interests as water sports, snow skiing, and hunting; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Lee Scott Bloemendal is a remarkable young man who 1-22 has demonstrated extraordinary dedication in attaining his goals; 1-23 his energy, enthusiasm, and determination typify the finest 1-24 qualities of our state's young people, and he is indeed deserving 2-1 of legislative commendation at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby commend Lee Scott Bloemendal on the occasion of 2-4 his graduation from The University of Texas Medical Branch at 2-5 Galveston and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued good 2-6 fortune and happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mr. Bloemendal as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
