R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of Beverly Grant Harden on April
1-2 28, 1999, at the age of 62, has brought a great loss to the family,
1-3 friends, and community of this esteemed gentleman; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Harden was born in Kerrville on August 17, 1936,
1-5 and served his country as a member of the United States Army; in
1-6 1977, he established Harden's Garage in Llano and was widely
1-7 acclaimed for the exceptional quality of service he provided for
1-8 his customers; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Mr. Harden was a dedicated member of his community
1-10 and contributed to the quality of life in Llano as a firefighter
1-11 and chief of the Llano Volunteer Fire Department; he also was a
1-12 member of the Llano Housing Authority Board and the Llano Community
1-13 Center Board; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Through his compassion for others and kind heart,
1-15 Beverly Grant Harden touched the lives of many people, and his
1-16 unique spirit will surely live on for many years to come in the
1-17 hearts and minds of all those who were privileged to know him; now,
1-18 therefore, be it
1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-20 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Beverly Grant Harden
1-21 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
1-22 wife, Melba Smith Harden; to his daughter, Patti Harden; to his
1-23 sons, Timmy Harden and Tony Harden; to his sisters, Mildred Pair,
1-24 Joyce Lackey, Bessie Dow, and June Rausch; to his brothers, Billy
2-1 Arthur "Bud" Harden and W. L. Harden, Jr.; to his aunt, Iolene
2-2 Smith; to his grandson, Grant; and to the many other relatives and
2-3 friends of this beloved man; and, be it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-6 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-7 Beverly Grant Harden.
