R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Louis Rogelio Ramirez, Sr., for his many years of dedication to the 1-3 Community Council of South Central Texas (CCSCT); and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Seguin, Texas, Mr. Ramirez served with 1-5 distinction in the United States Navy, and after attending college 1-6 on the GI Bill, he began his lengthy career as a social services 1-7 outreach worker with the CCSCT in 1967; and 1-8 WHEREAS, In this position he was highly innovative in using 1-9 state and federal programs to benefit area citizens, and he was 1-10 also directly responsible for enrolling countless Seguin and 1-11 Guadalupe County youth into summer employment and training 1-12 programs; and 1-13 WHEREAS, After excelling as an outreach worker, he earned a 1-14 series of promotions until he advanced to his current position as 1-15 executive director in 1984, and his continued dedication to the 1-16 CCSCT has helped it to become a multimillion dollar Community 1-17 Action Agency; and 1-18 WHEREAS, While continuing his service to the CCSCT, 1-19 Mr. Ramirez has also been active as a business partner in a local 1-20 nightclub and a bakery; despite his many professional interests, he 1-21 has always found time to give back to the community as a member of 1-22 such notable organizations as the Seguin Guadalupe County Hispanic 1-23 Chamber of Commerce, Texas Association of Community Action 1-24 Agencies, South Texas Community Based Organizations, Inc., Seguin 2-1 Jaycees, and United Neighbors Organization; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Louis Rogelio Ramirez, Sr., has had a profound 2-3 effect on the lives of many Texans through his work with the 2-4 Community Council of South Central Texas, and his devoted service 2-5 in their behalf is truly worthy of special recognition; now, 2-6 therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby recognize the many civic contributions of Louis 2-9 Rogelio Ramirez, Sr., and extend to him sincere best wishes for 2-10 continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Mr. Ramirez as an expression of high regard by the 2-13 Texas House of Representatives.
