R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of Henry Thomas Sedgwick on April
1-2 24, 1999, at the age of 89, has brought a great loss to the family
1-3 and friends of this esteemed Galveston resident; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Born on April 13, 1910, in Galveston, Mr. Sedgwick
1-5 was a beloved member of his community and his commitment to his
1-6 fellow citizens was apparent by his active involvement in civic and
1-7 church organizations; he was a member of St. Patrick Catholic
1-8 Church and sang in the church choir for 50 years, and he was a
1-9 lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. Sedgwick honorably served his country as a
1-11 member of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II; he enjoyed a
1-12 loving relationship with his wife of 53 years, Lena V. Sedgwick,
1-13 and together they raised four children, Mary, Rose Marie, Patrick,
1-14 and Michael; and
1-15 WHEREAS, An avid fisherman, Henry Thomas Sedgwick's love for
1-16 life provided inspiration for members of his family and countless
1-17 friends, and though he is gone from this world, his spirit will
1-18 continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those he leaves
1-19 behind; now, therefore, be it
1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-21 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Henry Thomas Sedgwick
1-22 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
1-23 wife, Lena V. Sedgwick; to his daughters, Mary E. Seinsheimer and
1-24 Rose Marie Ashabranner and her husband, Robert; to his sons,
2-1 Patrick T. Sedgwick and Michael E. Sedgwick and his wife, Kim; to
2-2 his grandchildren, Rob Seinsheimer, Lauren and Matt Ashabranner,
2-3 Emily Sedgwick, and Jennifer Wern and her husband, Robert; and to
2-4 the many other relatives and friends of this beloved gentleman;
2-5 and, be it further
2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-7 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-8 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-9 Henry Thomas Sedgwick.
