                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Joseph Milton Schwartz  was born on January 3, 1996,
 1-2     and demonstrated his good sense right from the start, having
 1-3     entered the world two days before one of the biggest blizzards in
 1-4     Washington, D.C., history so that his mother wouldn't have to be
 1-5     transported to the hospital by Humvee; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, The third child of Jeanne Mixon and John Schwartz,
 1-7     Joseph Milton  is the first child of the Schwartz family to be born
 1-8     in the vicinity of Washington, D.C., as his two older siblings,
 1-9     Elizabeth and Sam, were born in New York City; and
1-10           WHEREAS, This adorable little boy is the grandson of former
1-11     Senator A. R.  "Babe" Schwartz and Marilyn Schwartz, and he is
1-12     named for his great-grandfather, Joe Schwartz, a Russian immigrant
1-13     who embodied the American dream; he came to America from Russia 90
1-14     years ago and swept the floor of a Galveston clothing store, at the
1-15     corner of 23rd and Market streets, that he would eventually buy and
1-16     rename Schwartz's; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Joseph Milton is also named for his uncle, Milton
1-18     Jacobs of San Antonio, a doctor who is known for his passion for
1-19     learning and his hearty wit; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Joseph Milton's parents hope that he will one day
1-21     combine the industriousness and drive of Joe Schwartz with the love
1-22     of learning of Milton Jacobs, not to mention the poise and
1-23     graciousness of grandmothers Marilyn Schwartz, Doris Gibson, and
1-24     Judith Mixon and the prodigious mental prowess of grandfathers Babe
 2-1     Schwartz and John Mixon; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby formally recognize the birth of Joseph Milton
 2-4     Schwartz and invite him to think of the Great State of Texas as his
 2-5     true home, from the rich, brown surf of Galveston to the rugged
 2-6     cliffs of the Big Bend; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That Joseph Milton Schwartz be encouraged to
 2-8     explore his heritage to learn more about the multitudinous
 2-9     pleasures that his adopted home state has to offer, whether it's
2-10     Threadgill's chicken-fried steak or the twisted bluegrass
2-11     repertoire of the Austin Lounge Lizards, so that he may come to
2-12     love the state as all true Texans do.
